Organizations
Work in more than one organization, create a new one, switch between them, and know what changes when a partner manages your organization.
One sign-in can belong to several organizations. Each organization has its own subscription, workspaces, users and connections, and nothing is shared between them. Most companies need one; a second one suits a separate legal entity, or a place to try things out away from production data.
Before you start
- Anyone signed in can create an organization and becomes its Owner.
- You can own at most five organizations. This is a product limit, the same on every plan; organizations you belong to without owning them do not count.
Switch organization
- Open the account menu in the header and select Switch organization.
- Choose the organization. The one you are in is marked.
Costfluent opens the organization you chose at its start page. Settings, reports and the rest then belong to that organization until you switch again. Organization settings in the same menu opens the current organization's details; see Organization and workspaces.
Create an organization
- Open the account menu, select Switch organization, then New organization.
- Enter a Name for it and select Create.
Costfluent switches to the new organization. It starts with one workspace, named Default, on its own Free subscription, with no connections and with you as its only member. Connect a cloud account next; see Quickstart.
If you already own five organizations, Costfluent refuses with "You can own at most 5 organizations". Delete one you no longer need first.
A managed organization
A partner, such as a managed service provider, can create and run an organization for you. The partner creates it with no members and invites your people into it, as Integration Owner, Editor or Viewer, since an invitation cannot make anyone an Owner. An organization you created yourself cannot be put under a partner later. In a managed organization:
- Billing is the partner's. Settings, then Billing & plans, shows "Billing for this organization is handled by the partner that manages it." instead of a plan; see Plans and billing.
- It cannot be deleted from inside it. Organization shows "This organization is managed by a partner. Ask them to delete it." in place of Danger zone.
- The partner's actions are recorded under its name. The audit log shows "Manager" and the partner's name as the actor, not the person who acted for it.
- Everything else works as in any organization, for the role each member holds.
Nothing in the product ends a partner's management of an organization; agree it with the partner.
How it behaves
- Users, roles and teams belong to one organization. Inviting someone to a second organization is a separate invitation, with its own role.
- Deleting an organization does not affect your other organizations or your sign-in; see Delete the organization.
