# Insights

**Insights** sits under **Optimization** in the product's sidebar. It brings together the fastest-growing services, the largest cost changes by region, and the cost anomalies nobody has acknowledged yet.

## Before you start

- Connect at least one source, so the workspace has cost data. See [Manage connections](/connect/manage-connections).
- Any team role can view Insights. Acknowledging an anomaly needs the team role Owner or Editor with edit access to the workspace.

## Read the trend cards

1. Open **Insights**.
2. Set the date range at the top of the page. The two trend cards compare it with the period before it.
3. **Fastest Growing Services** lists the services whose cost rose most against the previous period, with both amounts and the change in percent.
4. **Significant Cost Changes** lists the regions whose cost changed most, and a **Total Period Change** row when the total moved.
5. Use **View in Cost Explorer** to continue in a Cost Report.

When nothing grew or changed, the cards say "No significant growth detected" and "No significant changes detected".

## Review and acknowledge anomalies

1. Open **Insights**. **Cost Anomalies** lists the anomalies that are not acknowledged yet.
2. Each anomaly names the service, a severity from low to critical, the expected and the actual cost, and how far the actual cost deviated.
3. When you have looked into one, select **Acknowledge**. It leaves the list, and Costfluent records who acknowledged it and when.

## How it behaves

- Anomaly detection runs every four hours. It compares each service's daily cost per connection and workspace with the previous thirty days, and flags a spike or a drop when the day is far enough from that history.
- A day with no cost data yet is skipped rather than treated as zero, so a provider that delivers late shows its anomalies later.
- Acknowledging does not change any cost figure. It only marks the anomaly as reviewed.
- Anomalies are also available through the Public API, which can acknowledge them with a token that holds the matching capability.
- The page also carries the **Tag Coverage** card ([Tags and tag coverage](/allocation/tags)) and the **Alerts** card, where cost alerts are paused, resumed and deleted ([Alerts](/planning/alerts)).
